What is the difference between interlock and single jersey?
Single jersey is knitted on one needle bed: it has a distinct front and back, is lighter, and its edges curl when cut. Interlock is knitted on two needle beds: both faces are identical, the fabric is more stable and opaque, and edges lie flat — easier cutting and sewing. For linings and inner layers, interlock's flat, two-faced structure is the preferred choice.
Does interlock fabric curl at the edges?
No — unlike single jersey, interlock's balanced double-knit structure keeps cut edges flat. This makes marker cutting and sewing faster with less waste, one of the reasons garment factories prefer interlock for linings and kidswear.
