What is jacquard welsoft fabric?
In short: jacquard welsoft is the version where the pattern is not printed onto the surface but built into the knit through needle selection during knitting. The result is a raised, physically tactile surface — either a stripe or a check. Because the pattern is structural, it cannot fade, crack or peel in the wash, which is exactly what eventually happens to printed fabric. What is jacquard welsoft fabric?
It is welsoft in which the pattern is not printed onto the surface but built into the knit through needle selection during knitting, producing a raised stripe or check that you can feel with your hand. We knit it in 100% micro-polyester at 240-250 gsm, 180 cm wide.
What is the difference between jacquard and printed welsoft?
In jacquard the pattern is part of the knit structure: it is raised, tactile, and cannot fade or crack in the wash. In print the pattern is applied digitally to the surface: the face stays flat, but color count and design freedom are unlimited. Jacquard is right for geometric patterns, print for florals and character artwork.
Does a jacquard pattern fade in the wash?
No. The pattern is made by the knit, not by pigment, so fading and cracking simply do not apply — even if the base color shifts over years, the pattern stays structurally in place. This is jacquard's strongest argument in frequently washed items such as pyjamas, bathrobes and baby blankets.
Which jacquard designs do you hold?
Striped and checked jacquard are standard in our production, both at 240-250 gsm and 180 cm wide. Stock colors ship in 2-5 business days; custom Pantone/RAL dyeing takes 10-15 business days.
Can we order our own jacquard design?
Yes. A custom jacquard design has a minimum order of 100 kg and a lead time of 20-25 business days, which includes setting the pattern up on the knitting machine. Stock designs stay at 50 kg per color, with stock colors shipping in 2-5 business days. Send us the artwork on WhatsApp and we will confirm it can be knitted — a jacquard design has to be geometric with a regular repeat. For free-form artwork, printed welsoft is faster at 50 kg and 10-15 business days.
Is it suitable for baby products?
Yes. Our dyehouse operates under OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I — the strictest class, reserved for articles for babies and toddlers — and GOTS and BCI documents are available on request. Jacquard has one extra advantage over print here: there is no printed layer on the surface that a child could mouth.
