Combed cotton (penye in Turkish) means the yarn is combed to remove short fibers and impurities before spinning. The result is a smoother, stronger, less-pilling jersey with a cleaner surface — the quality level expected by export brands. All our standard jersey is knitted from combed cotton yarn.
What GSM should I choose for t-shirt jersey?
Standard t-shirt jersey is 150-180 gsm. For premium and oversize t-shirts with a fuller drape, choose 200 gsm jersey. Lycra jersey comes in 170-180 and 190-200 gsm options for leggings, dresses and sportswear.
What is the difference between cotton jersey and lycra jersey?
100% cotton jersey is breathable but has limited stretch recovery. Lycra (elastane) jersey — 92% cotton / 8% lycra — stretches four ways and holds its shape, making it the choice for leggings, sportswear, dresses and any body-fit garment. For classic t-shirts and underwear, 100% combed cotton jersey is preferred.
Does jersey fabric shrink?
Cotton jersey can shrink 3-5% in the first wash by nature. Sanforized (pre-shrunk) finishing reduces this to a minimum. Our jersey is produced within garment-ready tolerances; we recommend relaxing the fabric before cutting.
