The textile industry in the Czech Republic

The Czech textile sector today is less about high-volume cut-make-trim and more about technical outdoor apparel, workwear and home textiles — a segment where fleece and sherpa are core materials rather than seasonal additions. Czech outdoor brands typically run tighter, more frequent production batches than the large Western European chains, which is exactly the case our 50 kg per colour minimum is built for: you can validate a shade and a hand feel on a real production run before committing to a full season. Road transit of 5 to 7 days also makes mid-season replenishment realistic in a way that a five-week container from Asia never is.

Czech textile activity is concentrated around the Liberec region and the Jizera foothills, Prostějov, Zlín and Brno. We ship to the Czech Republic from Istanbul on road freight from istanbul via bulgaria, romania and hungary, and under the EU-Turkey customs union industrial goods move without customs duty provided a valid A.TR certificate accompanies the shipment.

Buying fleece fabric to the Czech Republic — common questions

What is the minimum order for fleece fabric?
50 kg per colour. That is a deliberately low threshold: it lets a Czech buyer test a quality and a shade on a real production run before committing to a full season. Stock colours are dispatched from Istanbul in 2-5 working days.
How long does delivery to the Czech Republic take?
5-7 working days once the goods leave Istanbul, road freight from istanbul via bulgaria, romania and hungary. Add 2-5 working days for stock colours to be prepared, or 10-15 working days if the order requires custom dyeing.
Is a 50 kg minimum realistic for a small Czech outdoor brand?
That is exactly the case it was set for. Czech outdoor and workwear brands typically run shorter, more frequent batches than the large Western European chains, and most mills will not open a dyeing lot under several hundred kilos. At 50 kg per colour you can put a shade into a real production run — not just a sample cutting — and reorder it if the style sells.
Do you supply fabric for technical outdoor apparel?
We supply the insulating layers rather than the shell. Our anti-pilling fleece and double-faced sherpa are used as mid-layers, jacket linings and gilet bodies. What we do not produce is membrane-laminated or DWR-treated shell fabric — if that is what the garment needs, the outer layer has to come from a specialist mill.
Do I pay customs duty on Turkish fabric?
No, provided the shipment is accompanied by a valid A.TR movement certificate. Turkey and the EU form a customs union for industrial products, and knitted fabric falls within it. We issue the A.TR with every EU shipment as standard, along with the commercial invoice, packing list and transport document.
Can you match a specific Pantone colour?
Yes. Custom Pantone or RAL dyeing is available from 50 kg per colour and takes 10-15 working days including production. This is the standard route for brand programmes that have to hit a fixed corporate shade.
Can I get a sample before ordering?
Yes, and we recommend it. We send a physical sample free of charge — with a knitted fabric, hand feel and pile height are things you have to touch, and no photograph or screen colour settles the question.
What certifications do you hold?
The dyehouse we work with operates to GOTS, BCI and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I, the class that covers articles in direct contact with babies' skin. Documents are provided on request. Please note we do not hold GRS certification and do not claim it.
